About Erin & Chris

About Erin:

With a background in Human Resources and Training, Erin has combined her love of history, architecture, and travel into a unique Modern Traditionalist style.  Her quilts tell the stories of her experiences and her travel “bucket list”.  Erin believes that we must learn from the past for direction in the future in many areas of life and quilt making is no different.  It is from the details of the past that her inspiration springs forth in hopes of inspiring other quilters to do the same.  She is passionate about sharing the tried and true construction methods and updated traditional patterns hoping to instill  the love of the craft into quilters of all generations.

Erin, her husband, and her three children, live in Montgomery, AL.

About Chris:

With over 50 years of experience in sewing which includes wedding gowns and formal wear, elaborate theatrical costumes and set dressings, manufacturing of religious banners, and boutique children’s wear I have found that quilting is a perfect fit for this time in my life.

I have been quilting for 9 years, long-arming for clients for 7 and designing quilts and teaching for 5. I especially enjoy teaching tried and true traditional piecing techniques to new quilters and helping them to discover that they can be very proficient in a variety of methods quickly. Seeing the “aha” moment when they understand is what drives me to create new patterns where the quilter can use multiple types of unit shapes and sizes.

Like many of you, I wear many hats….that of being a wife, mom, grandma, teacher, guild president, retreat planner etc. I am passionate about being part of the process of bringing the blessing of a gifted quilt to those who are in need of comfort, encouragement or just knowing they are loved. I am excited about the future of Stone Gate Quilts and where it will lead Erin and I as we seek to bring fresh new designs to your hands so that you may create many beautiful works of art.
